UCH began the year with the high kicks of ‘Riverdance’, the concert hall providing box office and ‘front of house’ for the show that sold 17,500 seats. Better still, the event of Bill Whelan’s  ‘Riverdance’ for the Mid West raised the watermark for City of Culture activity with its impressive scope and vitality.

Under general manager Sinead Hope, appointed October 2013, the concert hall has now released “an exciting, packed and varied Spring programme for 2014″. So, what lies ahead?

“Fans of the current darling of country music, Nathan Carter, should ring box office immediately if they are not already among the seven hundred people who have bought tickets for his April concert,” Sinead states. “Mario Rosenstock’s ‘Gift Grub Live 3′ comes to the venue for a three day run and Mario promises to break his own box office records with already limited availability for Saturday May 3″.

She draws attention to the  Limerick premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Evita’ by Limerick Musical Society, March 20 to 23. Booking is underway too for Martin McDonagh’s brilliant, black comedy, “A Skull In Connemara” on March 28 and 29 as part of Decadent Theatre Company’s tour.

It was a big hit when in town last year, fearlessly funny and macabre.
