Body of LIT student found after 19 day search

FOLLOWING a 19 day search, the body of 21 year old Limerick Institute of Technology Student’s Union Vice President, Steven Kavanagh was tragically found by divers in the canal at Clonlara this Monday lunchtime.

Steven went missing following a night out in Limerick where he had been socialising with friends at a party in the suburbs of the city.

Having taken a taxi home, Steven was last seen in the area during the early hours of Thursday March 6 last.

Extensive land and water based searches had been taking place following his disappearance as dozens of volunteers took part.

The body, which was recovered from the water this Monday, has been removed and taken to the University Hospital Limerick for a postmortem.
