UL student tragically dies at lecture

A UNIVERSITY of Limerick student tragically collapse later during a business lecture this Thursday and later died in hospital.

Named locally as final year business student, Rachel Hogan, of Castle Ville, Golf Links Road, Castletroy, Limerick, 

The 22-year-old was attending a lunchtime lecture in the Kemmy Business School when she suffered a fit in class around 1pm, The University doctor was onsite within minutes and a an ambulance was immediately called to the lecture hall at the Plassey campus.

Tragically, efforts to resuscitate her proved unsuccessful and the young student was taken to University Hospital Limerick where she was pronounced dead. 

Her parents were called to the University as they live locally and were there when emergency medical staff were tending to their daughter.

Devastated class mates were still coming to terms with Thursday’ tragic events and the University were providing counselling services to students. 

A final year student Rachel Hogan was the youngest of three children and died just weeks before her final exams.
