Aged between 84 and 96 years, the busy group got stuck in, organising the event itself including the invites, running stalls, selling raffle tickets and doing the artwork which was to be the backbone of the sale. After weeks of hard work and with the help of activity co-ordinator Marion Fenton and art teacher Helen Seago, the residents produced artwork, plants, jewellery and baking for the sale.
They are now extending thanks to their families, neighbours and friends who supported the event, which raised โฌ500 for Alzheimer’s and the Waterman Lodge in Killaloe. They have also acknowledged the support of their sponsors.
“It was a lot of work but the residents did a fantastic job and we are very proud of them,” said Ms Fenton.
