Limerick’s Summer Festival of Literature

ImageLimerickโ€™s Summer Festival of Literature, opens this Friday 18 in The Pavilion, North Campus of UL. Vice chairman of Limerick City of Culture 2014, Tim Oโ€™Connor, has launch honours at 5pm on campus.

Oโ€™Connor, who chaired the successful Gathering nationally last year, has a keen interest in the Limerick verse. He got involved in getting Limerick Writersโ€™ Centre and Campus Life Services of UL to promote the form through an international Limericks competition last year.

John Liddyโ€™s ninth collection of poetry is launched by Dr John Logan at 6pm. At 7.30pm, Limerick Person of the Year, author Donal Ryan, will give a reading from his novels and the evening will round off at Treaty Comedy Club gig, 9pm. Friday 18 events are free and thereโ€™s welcome for all.

On Saturday 19, โ€˜Drunken Thadyโ€™ and โ€˜The Bishopโ€™s Ladyโ€™ historic works by the Bard of Thomond are launched 5pm by Maureen Sparling.
