An estimated 80,000 spectators lined the route of Ireland’s largest regional St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Limerick City today (Tuesday, 17 March 2015).

Mayor of Limerick Cllr Kevin Sheahan joined members of Limerick City and County Council and invited guests to witness more than 3,500 colourful participants from more than 70 different community groups, companies, bands and sports clubs take part in the Limerick parade which celebrated the carnival theme of ‘Spring’.

Grand Marshals were aerial dance and contemporary circus specialists Fidget Feet, and the parade featured a gala of colour and adrenaline pumping music including last year’s Best Float winner ʻMusic Generation Limerick Cityʼ, local marching bands, colourful members of Limerick’s international community and a community youth choir from Ontario in Canada. This year’s Flag Ambassadors were the students from Coláiste Nano Nagle who carried Ireland’s largest tricolour.
