CCTV review

469806-cctv-camerasSINN Féin councillor Séighin Ó Ceallaigh has called for a full review of CCTV cameras in the city centre. At this week’s Metropolitan council meeting, he said that CCTV was a crucial tool in the justice system and a review would help identify blindspots which may have no CCTV cameras. “We must be able to identify criminals and record crimes in order to bring all criminals to justice and we must ensure we have enough cameras to help Gardaí to do this. People should not be worried about walking through the city centre, day or night, and should be able to leave their cars in the city centre without the fear of them being robbed,” he said.
