Creativity in age with Bealtaine

All a journey: Odysseus sets his sights on Penelope and her craft
All a journey: Odysseus sets his sights on Penelope and her craft

20 YEARS a national arts festival, Bealtaine will involve 120,000 participants and reach out to many more in its mission to stimulate and celebrate creativity in older citizens. More than 3,500 events will take place and for those just beginning the journey of expression, “it is a chance for the novice to discover a talent until then unseen and a chance for a long dormant skill to find a new outlet”.

The theme is Odysseus returning to a homeland he does not recognise, but let that not stop you. This Age & Opportunity initiative is part funded by Arts Council and The Hunt Museum is one site of interest. The museum is offering free outreach to nursing and retirement homes locally and visits will include a presentation on The Hunt Collection. Book through email education@huntmuseum.com or ring.

Local libraries and arts centres will provide further detail on what’s on and when during May; www.bealtaine.com
