ALMOST a year ago a group of volunteers from Northside Family Resource Centre applied for a Compassionate Communities grant to stage a piece of theatre: โ€œTheatre that would highlight the importance of thinking, talking and sharing our thoughts about the end of life,โ€ explains director Karen Fitzgibbon.

A founder member of Teaspach company, Fitzgibbon has long experience of coaching communities in all aspects of staging a drama, funded usually by Limerick Clare Education and Training Board.

We hear that the outcome of working with Northside, โ€˜taLKโ€™, was written through workshop devising between the actors and writer.

โ€œThere has been laughter and some tears but what has emerged is a beautiful, witty and heartfelt piece, showing one womanโ€™s journey through diagnosis to prognosis to living well, and the wonderfully charismatic people she meets along the wayโ€.

One night only at Ballynanty Community Centre, this over 16s work takes place the night of Wednesday June 10 at 8pm. Donations to Milford Hospice are welcome.
