A FREE symposium spurred by Gavin Hogg’s exhibition of paintings, ‘Shadow Light’, will take place at host venue Limerick City Gallery of Art, Pery Square this Saturday June 20 from 2pm to 5pm.

According to the gallery’s Siobhan O’Reilly, “The impetus behind this symposium is to create a forum of discussion, where aspects of painting language can be presented and compared.  Dr. Mathew Mather will discuss the parameters of various Jungian concepts in relationship to Gavin Hogg’s work over the last 20 years.

“Nuala O’Sullivan will speak about the relationship of photography to her work and particularly the images of women in Ireland from the 1950s. And Gavin Hogg will discuss influences in his own work and the contemporary context of painting”.

The event will be chaired by Una McCarthy, LCGA director and each speaker will present a talk accompanied by projected images lasting approximately 20 to 30 minutes. After each presentation there will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.

Book a seat on artgallery@limerick.ie or (061) 310633.
