THE Irish Youth Choir issues an invitation to “experience musical stories of love and catastrophe” in a July brace of concerts. Performances of ‘Oceans Apart’ will be conducted by Greg Beardsell and take place in St Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick on Sunday July 5 at 8pm and at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin on July 6.

We are told that “oceans are the theatres of love and catastrophe, the medium of separation and diaspora”. Hear such stories through the chords and voices of the IYC in a programme that includes works by Byrd, De Monte, Mäntyjärvi, Holst and MacMillan.

Standards will be high as this choir of 100 meets annually for an intensive week of rehearsal under Beardsell prior to these summer concerts. Tickets from University Concert Hall box office and www.uch.ie
