Fifth life claimed on Limerick roads

THE YOUNG Limerick man injured in the August bank holiday road traffic crash on the N69 has died in hospital over the weekend.

26-year-old Kildimo native Liam O’Shaughnessyย was a rear-seat passenger in a car that left the N69 road nearย Ballycasey, Kildimo at around 3am on Monday August 3, last. No other car was involved.

As a result of the crash, the young man sustained severe head injuries and was transfered from University Hospital Limerick to Cork University Hospital and was placed on life-support.

Mr O’Shaughnessy passed away over the weekend surrounded by family and friends who keptย vigil at his bedside since the accident.

The 26-year-old will beย laid to rest later this week.

Two other men, including the driver, were treated at UHL for non life-threatening injuries following the accident.

Mr O’Shaughnessy’s death was the fifth tragedy on Limerick roads this year.
