THE JUDGE presiding over the custody hearing of the two Corbett children has dismissed the case against Molly Martens and upheld the decision earlier this week whereby they were returned to their legal Irish guardians.

In breaking developments from the US, Judge April Woods at Davidson County Court in North Carolina dismissed the case of Molly Martens who was seeking to take custody of her Irish step children Jack (10) and Sarah (8) Corbett.

The dismissal, which happened just before 6pm, means the guardianship ruling by Brian Shipwash, Clerk of the Superior Court of North Carolina stands.

The order states that it’s in the children’s best interests to live with their paternal aunt Tracey Lynch and her husband David.

The Limerick-born children had been in the custody of their stepmother for two weeks after the father was found death in the upstairs bedroom of his home in Panther Creek Court, Wallburg, North Carolina on August 2 last.

Molly Martens and her father Thomas, who is a retired FBI agent have been described by police as “persons of interest” in the case but no arrests have yet been made.

In a late development on Tuesday night, the Clerk awarded guardianship to Ms Lynch after Ms Martens had been temporarily granted custody.

Jack and Sarah, together with Tracey and David Lynch are now set to return to Ireland where they can bury Jason alongside his first wife, Mags, who died tragically in 2006.
