Rescue swimmers from the fire service swift water rescue team launched their rapid deployment rescue rafts to reach the young male who had entered the Shannon on a very low tide.

The male in his early 20’s sustained injuries consistent with a fall from a height and was brought to the slipway at St Michael’s rowing club on O’Callaghan’s Strand by the fire service’s rescue rafts.

The young male was assessed on scene by HSE emergency paramedics and removed by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick.

Members of the Limerick Marine Search and Rescue also responded to the alert.
