GARDAÍ who raided a house at Mountpleasant, Kildimo last Thursday seized cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €140,000, bringing the total value of drugs found in County Limerick ‘grow houses’ over the past year to almost €1 million.
It was the fifth ‘grow house’ raided by Gardaí in Limerick over the past 12 months and they say that many of these seizures have come about because of the vigilance of the public.
Local independent councillor Emmett O’Brien said that the discovery came as a great shock to locals who were unaware that this could happen in their area.
He said it highlighted the importance of having a local Garda force in the Kildimo/Pallaskenry area and the local community’s efforts to retain their local Garda station.
