STAFF, pupils and parents at Barna national school in Pallasgreen, are preparing a warm welcome for celebrity chef Rachel Allen to Limerick’s Strand Hotel.

With her latest cookery book and her new ‘Rachels’ Coastal Cooking’ television series attracting nationwide attention, the Ballymaloe chef will present an evening of recipes and entertainment in aid of the Barna school building project on Thursday, November 12.

Barna NS was built in 1929 and has a strong tradition of academic, extra-curricular and sporting achievement. Prefabs that were used to accommodate the growing numbers of pupils are now being replaced with a large extension consisting of a new mainstream classroom, resource room, learning support room, staff room and office.

The original building is also undergoing a complete renovation, with work expected to be finished by next Spring.
