Attempted robbery at Limerick city jewelers

A BOTCHED armed robbery at a Limerick city centre jewellers left a member of staff this Thursday with a hand injury as Gardai appeal for witnesses.

Shortly after 11am this Thursday morning, a lone male entered the jewellers armed with a knife.

It is understood that the man demanded cash and valuable items but was unable to obtain anything.

During the course of the attempted robbery, a female member of staff received a hand wound.

Her injuries were treated at the scene when the alarm was raised.

Superintendent Derek Smart said that investigating Gardai at the Henry Street Station are appealing for any witnesses who may have noticed the lone male, believed to be aged in his 20s, acting suspiciously on O’Connell Street around that time.

Gardai are reviewing CCTV footage in a bid to determine the identity of the man.
