THE MARKETS Field, home of Limerick FC and one of the most famous sporting grounds in the country, could have some new tenants in 2016.
Rugby will return to the famous venue in the near future, with plans underway to host the 2015 Charity Cup final at the ground in the coming weeks.
Munster Rugby have been in talks with the LEDP in relation to hosting, club, schools and even Munster ‘A’ games at the Garryowen ground in the future.
The stadium, which has hosted events from an All Ireland hurling final, to equestrian to the Irish Cycling Championships, will open its doors to new events in 2016.
Local Soccer finals, under-age and 11-a-side GAA and even band competitions are believed to be pencilled in for later in the New Year for this city centre municipal stadium.
