Ailish Tynan to sing Death and the Maiden

Ailish Tynan is guest soloist for an Irish Chamber Orchestra special at UCH on Thursday February 11, 8pm. Under the banner of ‘Death and the Maiden’, Gabor Tákacs-Nagy conducts the orchestra in extracts from works by Pergolesi, Haydn, Mozart and Schubert. Book at box office and www.uch.ie

Notes from the ICO sing: “Pergolesi’s exquisitely emotive Salve Regina, is both expressive and poignant. Haydn’s The Seven Last Words of Christ underscores the momentousness of the close of Christ’s life as the Earthquake heralds the Resurrection. Schubert’s Salve Regina progresses from veiled grief to genuine tragedy and contrasts with his electrifying Death and the Maiden which demonstrates his natural instinct for melody and song.
