โ€˜SONG and Dance โ€“ A Celebration!โ€™ is the annual series of concerts for primary and post primary schools, presented by Evelyn Grant of RTร‰ lyric fm and the Cork Pops Orchestra.

This show takes place first in Limerick this Friday March 4 at 10.15am and 12noon in University Concert Hall and on Tuesday March 8 in Corkโ€™s City Hall at 10am and again, 12noon.

Evelyn brings her audience of young years on a musical journey through the ages. This lyric fm presenterย  will share the stage withKeith Hanley, who was โ€˜Voice of Irelandโ€™ winner 2013, DJ Dashkam and a cheeky cello-playing gorilla. He has been released into Evelynโ€™s care in this, The Year of the Monkey.

โ€œThe selection of melodies and dances covers a wide range of music, from the classical ballet of Tchaikovsky to the current hit โ€˜Cheerleaderโ€™,โ€ Emma Foote, marketing manager with UCH informs us. โ€œThere will be famous anthems from Handelโ€™s โ€˜Zadok the Priestโ€™ to โ€˜Les Misรฉrablesโ€™ and โ€˜West Side Storyโ€™. Dance music producer DJ Dashka will join forces with vocalist Keith Hanley for contemporary surprisesโ€.

โ€˜Song and Dance โ€“ A Celebration!โ€™ is curriculum based. The March 4 concert focuses on active listening, encourage participation and is a multi-media experience. Classroom resources will be provided to schools attending.
