Limerick woman rescued from bridge over River Shannon

EMERGENCY services have rescued a woman from entering the water at the River Shannon this Thursday evening in Limerick.

Alerted to an incident developing at Sarsfield Bridge, Limerick City and County Fire and Rescue service launched their FireSwift jet boat together with three Swiftwater Rescue Technician swimmers to the area.

Emergency paramedics attached to National Ambulance service, together with Gardai and LMSR responded to alert.

A woman, who was found at the bridge in a distressed state was removed and taken into the care and custody of emergency personnel.

The woman has been brought to the Iniversity Hospital Limerick for medical treatment.
