CLONLARA Youth Club celebrated its thirtieth birthday this week.

Since it first opened its doors in 1986 the youth club, which is affiliated to Limerick Youth Service, has and continues to support teenagers, by providing a popular outlet in County Clare.

Club chairperson Declan Real thanked the many young people, volunteers and members of the community and Limerick Youth Service for their ongoing support of Clonlara Youth Club at their birthday bash in the community centre.

He also spoke of trips to France, youth exchanges to Enniskillen and Sligo, success at Youth Work Ireland’s various variety shows and participation in the President of Ireland’s Gaisce Awards as just some of the many highlights of the past three decades.

“Clonlara Youth Club has come a long way in the past 30 years and we have always put the needs and wants of young people to the fore,” said Mr Real.

Limerick Youth Service’s CEO, Catherine Kelly congratulated Clonlara Youth Club on its milestone birthday.

“Some of you have been volunteering with Clonlara Youth Club since those early days and it’s also great to see two generations of families involved with the youth club,” Miss Kelly commented.

“This dedication and commitment to our young people and community is something that we are all grateful for and on behalf of Limerick Youth Service I would like to say a big thank you,” she added.

Clonlara Youth Club is one of nearly 30 volunteer led youth clubs/groups supported by Limerick Youth Service and is open every Friday evening (during term time) with new members and volunteers always welcome.

A member of Youth Work Ireland, Limerick Youth Service remains committed to supporting and encouraging young people to be active participants in shaping their future.
