ARTWORKS by Limerick students are among the thousands of entries presented to adjudicators who will select winners in the 62nd Texaco Children’s Art Competition. The overall trophy taker will platform their work at Tokyo’s National Art Center this year.

The competition is closed to further entries for 2016.

Pictured left is ‘Snow Whitener’ by 15 year-old Danielle Jackson and the ‘you talkin’ to me’ piece to the right is untitled by its maker, 18 year-old Kerry Lynch. Danielle and Kerry are pupils at Coláiste Nano Nagle on Sexton Street, and their work is displayed here by Valero marketing manager Bronagh Carron, working with the competition.

Final adjudication is scheduled for the end of March. The first, second and third prize winners in each category will be notified of their success in early April and invited to attend a press reception in Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane on Tuesday April 19.

Dublin City Gallery will show the exhibition of children’s works until May 22; on then to Highlanes Gallery in Drogheda from September to November. The Ulster Museum in Botanic Gardens, Belfast will show the 62nd Texaco art from November 17 to January 8 and more touring venues will be confirmed over time.
