Chief Superintendent Dave Sheahan will oversee policing in #Kerry until new appointments are approved by the new Government

LIMERICK’s most senior Garda, Chief Superintendent Dave Sheahan, has had his duties extended on a temporary basis to include the #Kerry division, following recent changes in Garda management.

Chief Supt Sheahan’s remit remains the same in Limerick but he will manage the two divisions until a permanent appointment can be made in Kerry.

The Waterford native, who has helped lead the fight against gangland crime in Limerick, says there’s always been a good relationship between Gardaí in Kerry and Limerick.

“The sharing of information between the two divisions has always been key to battling crime as “criminals don’t see boundaries and they don’t see Garda boundaries and that sharing is a strength for having a national policing service”, he said.

Chief Supt Sheahan’s extended role will remain in place until a new government is sworn in and he expects that a permanent appointment will be made within the coming months.
