Smells like Nirvana

Cork alternative rockers Paradox are back in the city for a third year celebrating the music of Nirvana.

What started as a once off event in 2014 to mark the 20th anniversary of Kurt Cobain has now turned into a yearly event.Paradox are an original band and have four albums on release to date. 2015 album ‘Chapters’ has achieved national radio airplay on 2fm and Today FM. The roots of the Paradox sound owes much to the grunge era and their now annual Nirvana tribute tour is growing yearly taking the band across the country.

In August 1991 Nirvana kicked off their European Tour in Cork. The gig happened in Sir Henry’s and was headlined by Sonic Youth. Nirvana were virtually unknown at this point but it was only a matter of weeks after this show that the band snowballed after the success of ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ and became one of the world’s biggest bands. Paradox play Cobblestone Joes this Friday April 15 playing Nirvana’s classics and many more.
