ST Saviourโs Community Drama Group is polishing its act for production No. 9, opening at Belltable on April 28 for two nights. This yearโs fun is called โThe Lipstick Club (Mayhem in A&E)โ, which will surely correspond with the many thousand who have spent time in triage and on a trolley.
Led annually by theatre practitioner Karen Fitzgibbon, St Saviourโs managed a certified FETAC qualification in Drama last year.
Supported by Limerick Education and Training Board, the group as a whole is responsible for everything: idea, plot, stage craft, management, PR, acting and of course, pulling in a regular audience.
Of โThe Lipstick Clubโ, Fitzgibbon reports from her directorโs chair that โthis hilarious and fast paced comedy drama is set in the Mid-West Rear End University Hospital.
โThe story moves dramatically with a misplaced lottery ticket, the changing of a light bulb, botched surgical enhancements and opera singing nurses, resulting in the emergency room lockdown. Nobody can enter or leave!โ
Ouch.
Thereโs another first this week for St Saviourโs with the launch of their short film โIs it Himโ, shot by Jay Reddan and again, directed by Karen Fitzgibbon.
โIs It Himโ will be launched by Willie OโDea TD at Hyde Roadโs Imperial Bar this Thursday 21.
Book for the theatre show at Belltableโs management site, www.limetreetheatre.ie for Thursday 28 and Friday 29, 8pm.
