ST Saviour’s Community Drama Group is polishing its act for production No. 9, opening at Belltable on April 28 for two nights. This year’s fun is called ‘The Lipstick Club (Mayhem in A&E)’, which will surely correspond with the many thousand who have spent time in triage and on a trolley.

Led annually by theatre practitioner Karen Fitzgibbon, St Saviour’s managed a certified FETAC qualification in Drama last year.

Supported by Limerick Education and Training Board, the group as a whole is responsible for everything: idea, plot, stage craft, management, PR, acting and of course, pulling in a regular audience.

Of ‘The Lipstick Club’, Fitzgibbon reports from her director’s chair that “this hilarious and fast paced comedy drama is set in the Mid-West Rear End University Hospital.

“The story moves dramatically with a misplaced lottery ticket, the changing of a light bulb, botched surgical enhancements and opera singing nurses, resulting in the emergency room lockdown. Nobody can enter or leave!”

Ouch.

There’s another first this week for St Saviour’s with the launch of their short film ‘Is it Him’, shot by Jay Reddan and again, directed by Karen Fitzgibbon.

‘Is It Him’ will be launched by Willie O’Dea TD at Hyde Road’s Imperial Bar this Thursday 21.

Book for the theatre show at Belltable’s management site, www.limetreetheatre.ie for Thursday 28 and Friday 29, 8pm.
