Adult time out with the Corner Boys of Kilmallock

FRIARS’ Gate will host Mend & Makedo Theatre again this Saturday May 7 at 8pm. A show written by John McKenna and directed by Marian Brophy, ‘Corner Boys’ presents a five strong cast populating an Irish village in the momentous year of 1963.

It’s stern stuff and for over 16s only.

We’re told: “For the two young women working in the local draper’s, the visit of John F Kennedy is all important but for the corner boys, the concerns are different. Women, money and darker doings fill their lives.

“This powerful play exposes the light and dark of Irish life in the sixties – the carnivals, the sodalities, the humour and the desperation”.
