THREE Limerick workers who died in their workplaces last year, and many more injured at work have been remembered at a special ceremony last week.
The Congress of Trade Unions, Construction Industry Federation, Ibec and the Health and Safety Authority marked the second Workersโ Memorial Day, a commemorative event to remember people killed, injured and bereaved through workplace accidents.
The three Limerick fatalities were among 56 people who died in workplaces accidents nationwide last year.ย 11 people have died in the workplace in Limerick since 2010.ย
In the ten year period between 2006 and 2015, 526 people were killed in work-related accidents in Ireland and many thousands more badly injured.
56 deaths, or slightly more than one person a week, were recorded in work-related accidents in Ireland in 2015.ย
