Choral trail as well as formal concerts for Limerick Sings Festival

LIMERICK Sings International Choral Festival weekend is host to three concerts and a choral trail around city and county churches over the coming days.

The opening concert will be held this Friday June 10, 8pm in The Redemptorist Church (N.B. venue change) with local, national and international choirs performing. Anticipate a diverse programme of traditional and folk songs as well as Palestrina, Elgar and Bach.

On Saturday June 11, 8pm and presented by RTE lyric fm’s Lorcan Murray, the Gala Concert takes place in University Concert Hall featuring Shakespeare in Song by the New Dublin Voices and Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man by Limerick Choral Union.

There will be a rousing performance of Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass by several visiting choirs from the USA, accompanied by Limerick Sinfonia, under the baton of international hot shot conductor Dr Jeffrey Benson.

Sunday June 12, 3.30pm will see the Festival, organised by Campus Life Services UL, concluding with Sunday Proms in the Holy Trinity Abbey Church in Adare.
