THE Limerick Senior footballer’s 2016 championship campaign came to an end today following a 2-12 to 0-10 loss to Cork in Thurles. John Brudair’s men never got going in a game where they needed to start well to have any hope of catching an out of form Cork.
Goals in either half from young full-forward Peter Kelleher and Paul Kerrigan helped ease Cork to an eight-point win. Following Cork’s first goal after 14 minutes, Limerick trailed 1-6 to 0-4 and never had the chance to gain a foot hold in the knock out tie.
It will be Division four football in 2017 next for the Limerick footballers now.
