THE 2016/17 Limerick Junior Soccer season has kicked off. Janesboroโ€™s 3-1 win over Ballynanty on Tuesday night, August 16 saw the new season kick into life.
The current Premier League champions, Carew Park, are under new management this season. Former Regional coach and Limerickโ€™s Live95fm commentator Mike Ahern will take the hot seat this season, taking over from Albert Slattery. Aherneโ€™s backroom team will also feature Eoin Oโ€™Hagan and Cecil Prendergast. Carew Park have strengthened their squad somewhat this season, with only one high profile exit, that of Tom Culhane.
The champions will begin their title defence against Mike Mc Carthyโ€™s Aisling Annacotty side on Thursday night at home.
Second favourites for the league this season, Pike Rovers will start their season away to Moyross. Last season Pike were runners up in the league and the FAI Junior Cup so they are expected to battle on more than one front against this time around, with Eddie Oโ€™Donovan, Daithรญ Oโ€™Donoghue and Colm Enright in charge.
New boys Nenagh AFC will take on Geraldines in their opening entry to the top table, while fellow promotion-clinching Kilmallock will take on Fairview Rangers, who have Paul Oโ€™Donnell and Trevor Cosgrave at the helm once more.
