A E R I E is a jazz quintet lead by German saxophonist Ingo Hipp that has played at least 40 concerts around Europe.
Come to Dolan’s this Wednesday October 5, Upstairs 9pm to hear their sound, hosted by Limerick Jazz.
The band launched their debut album ‘hatch and host’ (Neuklang Records) last year and are now touring and recording their second album into December.
There are two Irish men involved, Sam Comerford on saxophone and Matthew Jacobson on drums. Base David Helm and Laurent Méteau on guitar complete the line up.
Although the instrumentation is that of a typical jazz quintet, the group strives to avoid the clichés of modern jazz, always searching for a fresh take on forms and structures as well as instrumental functionality.
