#Limerick man dies in fatal crash

garda-accident-sign-2AN ATHEA man has been killed in County Limerick following a fatal road accident outside the county Limerick village last Saturday night.

Named locally as Anthony Cooper, understood to be aged in his 50s, the county Limerick man was tragically killed when his car was involved in a collision with another car at Coole West, Athea.

Mr Cooper’s car was involved in the crash on the R524 road at around 9.30pm. He was pronounced dead at the scene but the driver of the other car was uninjured.

Two units from the Limerick County fire and service attended the scene and remained at the site for a number of hours.

Garda forensic collision experts have conducted initial investigations and a post mortem examination has been carried out.

Last Saturday’s crash has claimed the 13 life on Limerick roads this year.
