LIMERICK Post provides frequent nudges to all communities to come along to the Wednesday lunchtime series of free concerts at St Maryโ€™s Cathedral. The man behind the programme, organist Peter Barley, advises us of two delightful gigs ahead.

โ€œWe are delighted to welcome back violinist Siรบn Milne to St Maryโ€™s on Wednesday May 31, 1.15pm. Siรบn is a member of the Shandon Trio, and it is with them that she will perform music for string trio by Beethoven and Kodaly.

โ€œOn June 7, we have a quite different programme when organist Daniel Battle will be putting the mighty St Maryโ€™s Cathedral organ through its paces. His programme consists of just one work, the โ€˜Sonata on the 94th Psalmโ€™ by Juilus Reubke. โ€œThis is a highly dramatic work, by turn introspective and impassioned, and itโ€™s a rare opportunity to hear one of the warhorses of the Romantic organ repertoire.โ€

Everybody is welcome.
