NEW LIMERICK FC manager Tommy Barrett has moved quickly to improve his squad by adding three players since his appointment became official on Sunday evening.

On Wednesday, Barrett held his first press conference and alongside him was his first signing, Connor Ellis, who has joined the club from Cork City.

Ellis has signed for the Super Blues on a two-year-deal from the 2017 SSE Airtricity League champions. The striker had been training with Limerick for the past few weeks. The club also confirmed that Ellis will wear the number 10 jersey for the coming season.

Limerick also announced a second signing on Wednesday, Eoin Wearen. The former U-19 international most recently played with Bohemians in 2016, and also had a spell with Sligo Rovers the previous year. Wearen missed all of the 2017 season due to injury.

Barrett’s third signing was confirmed today – the vastly experienced Billy Dennehy. He has spent the last two seasons with St Patrick’s Athletic, having also spent time at Cork City and Shamrock Rovers.

At Rovers, Dennehy won the league title twice and was part of their squad that got to the group stages of the Europa League. With so many young players in the squad, Dennehy brings a huge amount of experience to the table.

Limerick are also hoping to confirm several more signings by the weekend, as well as confirming squad numbers for the season.

They play their first pre-season game against Galway United at the University of Limerick’s 4G pitch on Saturday evening at 6:30pm

The 2018 SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season begins for Limerick with a trip to Sligo Rovers on Saturday, February 2018.
