LIMERICK Jazz Society makes a strong opening for 2018 Spring season on Wednesday February 21 with Carole Nelson leading her trio to launch a new album.
Move through Dolanโs doors at 8.45pm for Carole Nelson on piano, soprano saxophone and words set to her own composition.
She is joined by Cormac OโBrien on bass ย and Dominic Mullen, drums, for โOne Day in Winterโ. Their musicianship is fabulous.
Of the central artist, we hear:
โLong at the creative hub of multi-award winning Irish jazz group Zrazy, Carole now turns her attention toย exploration of the piano trio form.ย โOne Day in Winterโ is located in a particular space and time. Living between the River Barrow and the Blackstairs Mountains in Carlow gave Carole both the physical and mental landscape for composition.
โThe album traces the course of one winterโs day, from before dawn to moonrise. In between, we are taken on a journey that describes a human landscape as much as a physical one โ meditation, playfulness, wonder, contemplation of ageing and death, human warmth and companionship.โ
