Murder investigation launched over Limerick pub stabbing

A MURDER investigation has been launched in Limerick after a fatal stabbing occurred at a pub on Saturday night.

Gardai at Mayorstone in Limerick are investigating a fatal stabbing which occurred at a licensed premises at Sexton Street North, Limerick just before midnight last night, Saturday July 7.

A 24-year-old male received serious stab wounds and was taken to University Hospital Limerick where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A post mortem examination is scheduled to take place and the Limerick coroner has been notified.

The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination. The Garda Technical Bureau are attending the scene.

No arrests have been made. Investigations are continuing.
