Munster got their Guinness PRO14 season off to a winning start thanks to a 38-0 win against the Toyota Cheetahs at Thomond Park.

Head coach Johann van Graan was pleased with his side’s performance on both sides of the ball.

“Keeping them to zero on the defensive side and on the attacking side I think from our last game here against Edinburgh I think the improvement in the attack was incredible. We scored some impressive tries.”

There here were a number of new faces looking to impress the South African in the season opener from the start of the game while Joey Carbery had his first run out in red when he was introduced from the bench.

“I thought Arno Botha was very good for a first game his carrying was really nice, he really improved from the base of the scrum from last week. Neil Cronin to play like that for 60 minutes, being an amateur a few months ago and walking into a professional league was really good.”

“Pretty happy with Joey. I think he had 25 minutes, we slotted him into ten, some good decision making and nice pass that he got away to Dave O’Callaghan for his try.”  Said the South African.
