LIMERICK is known for its fantastic festivals and back for it’s second year to celebrate Limerick’s unique food heritage, is the Pigtown festival.

The series of events was originally inspired by the history of Limerick’s famous bacon industry and just like last year, this year’s exciting programme of themed events has been taking the city by storm across various venues in Limerick throughout the month of September.

The festival has brought us everything from food heritage tours, neighbourhood pignics, Pigtown cookery demos and talks and workshops.

One such event which the After Dark team visited was the Nose to Tail ‘Swine & Dine’ wine tasting dinner on Thursday  September 20.

Guests gathered at the AA Rosette River restaurant at Limerick Strand Hotel for a fantastic four-course wine dinner featuring the very best of local seasonal produce. Executive chef Tom Flavin was there to welcome guests and to introduce the outstanding menu celebrating the Pigtown Food series. The menu was, of course, Pigtown themed and included mouthwatering dishes such as Nose to Tail Terrine, Pressed Belly of Pork, and Black Pudding, to name a few of the courses that were paired brilliantly with various wines and beers.
