In light of the recent injury to Alby Mathewson, Neil Cronin has been added to the Munster Squad for their first Champions Cup game of the season against the Exeter Chiefs this weekend. Cronin has recovered sufficiently from a shoudler injury and will compete with Duncan Williams for the starting berth at scrum half.

Mathewson started the Pro 14 game against Leinster at the weekend but picked up a knee injury late on. He joins Conor Murray on the sidelines with no timeline on either man’s return to action.

Cronin signed with Munster in 2014 but was released after a few cameo appearances. His subsequent performances for Garryowen saw him link up with the province once more in the summer where he was offered a professional contract.
