THE International Rugby Experience project in the heart of Limerick City has been granted planning permission by An Bord Pleanรกla.

The 30,000sqft development on the junction of Oโ€™Connell Street and Cecil Street would involve the demolition of 40 and 41 Oโ€™Connell Street and pave the way for the construction of seven-storey block with a two-storey portico fronting the cityโ€™s main thoroughfare.

Limerick TD Niall Collins posted to Twitter today saying “this is very welcome news and will hugely add to the sport and tourism offering in Limerick”.

“This is a โ‚ฌ30 Million investment which will attract tens of thousands of visitors to Limerick annually,” the Fianna Fรกil TD added.
