YOU have a choice of two dates in December to book ‘The Nutcracker’, agreed by all to be the most seasonal of ballets. Ballet Ireland is checking into Lime Tree Theatre on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 at 8pm with this Tchaikovsky adventure set on Christmas Eve in a big house in Russia.

“A marvellous party is taking place where the mysterious Uncle Drosselmeyer brings gifts for all the children. When midnight strikes, very strange things start to happen … The Christmas tree grows to incredible height and Clara’s magical gift, her Nutcracker, leads them into a fairytale world!

“With her heroic Nutcracker at her side, Clara defeats the Mouse King and his army of mice and they journey to the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets together.”
