Serious assault in Limerick City under investigation

GARDAI in Limerick are investigating the circumstances of a serious assault in the City Centre during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

A man in his 40s was found with serious head and body injuries at Augustinian Lane off Roches Street shortly after 2:30am on Wednesday.

The victim of the assault was taken to University Hospital Limerick where his condition was described as serious but not life-threatening.

A garda spokesperson confirmed that the incident under investigation surrounded a “serious assault where this man was found with extensive injuries.“

The scene in the City Centre was cordoned off this Wednesday as garda forensic investigators conducted analysis of the scene.
