Sporting Limerick Charity Final pits Young Munster against Garryowen

One of the most anticipated matches of the season takes place at Markets Field when Young Munster play Garryowen in the Sporting Limerick Charity Cup Final on Friday, December 28, at 6.00pm.

The two clubs are in the top Division of Irish rugby. Both clubs have distinguished records having won many Munster Senior Cups and All Ireland Leagues between them. The clubs met earlier in the year in the All Ireland League with Garryowen who have had a good season to date just shading it over the ever competitive Young Munster. So a cracking Sporting Limerick Charity Cup Final in aid of such deserving charities is highly anticipated.

Welcoming the event, North Munster Rugby Chairman Sean McCullough said that it was “a great opportunity to see the Final with such worthy participants”. LEDP (Limerick Enterprise Development Partnership), the Markets Field stadium owners see the event as being a further step in the recognition of the venue as a multi-sport facility for the people of Limerick. Sporting Limerick are also proud to be associated with this initiative.

A bumper crowd is expected for this historic night which will benefit local charities, including Milford Hospice, Daughters of Charity, St. Vincent’s, Lisnagry, Parkinson’s Association, Redemptorist Fathers Christmas Poor Campaign, Limerick Marine Search and Rescue, and Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.

This should be a great sporting occasion.
