CJ Stander set for time on sidelines

Although they were heavily beaten by England on Saturday, Ireland will be pleased with the effort of some players in what has been described as an ‘off day’.

No one impressed more than CJ Stander who despite a serious eye injury played for 62 minutes, accounting for 18 tackles.

However, Stander’s heroics proved to be in vain and now the Munster man is facing a spell on the sidelines as he nurses a fractured eye socket.

Today the IRFU released a statement regarding any injury concerns with a number of players doubtful for the clash with Scotland next weekend.

Fellow Munster men Keith Earls and Andrew Conway are to be assessed during the week before the availability is confirmed.
