WATCH: ‘The Well’ top dogs after second round of Limerick SHC

Ciarán Carey’s Patrickswell made it two wins from two in the Bon Secours Hospital Limerick SHC after a 2-17 to 1-15 win over Na Piarsaigh in Kilmallock today.

Two Kevin O’Brien goals in the opening 10 minutes helped Patrickswell to a 2-8 to 0-9 half time advantage.

Patrickswell continued to keep Na Piarsaigh at arms length after the break. Shane Dowling netted a late free for Na Piarsaigh but Carey’s men were well worthy of their five point win.

On Saturday, Adare came out victorious from their Group 1 game with South Liberties on a 4-22 to 2-13 scoreline.

Adare coasted to victory thanks to first half goals from Mike Mackey and John Fitzgibbon, while Willie Griffin fired in two goals for Brian Foley’s side in the second half.

South Liberties had goals from a Brian Ryan free and a well taken Shane Garry strike but they suffered a second successive heavy defeat.

The other game in Group 1 on Saturday night saw Doon and Kilmallock play out a thrilling 0-17 to 1-14 draw.

Doon were a point ahead deep into injury time but Paudie O’Brien’s late, late point ensured that Kilmallock go into the three month break unbeaten.

Last year’s county finalists led by a point at the break as well thanks to fine performances from Michael Ryan and Barry Murphy to name two but Kilmallock did well to stay in the game – Oisin O’Reilly got the only goal of the contest for The Balbec.

It looked late on that Doon had done enough to get off the mark with their first win but O’Brien’s score saw the game finish level.

In Group 2, Ahane came out victorious against Ballybrown by 1-13 to 0-14 on Friday night.

Ballybrown led by three at the break, despite the best efforts of Tom Morrissey but it was Ahane that got the win with William Brennan’s goal proving crucial.

Elsewhere in Group 2 on Friday night, Ed Doyle’s late point saw Monaleen draw with Garryspillane 0-19 to 2-13.

The Bouncers have now drawn both of their games since returning to senior hurling. In both games they have been denied by equalising points in injury time.

Two John Kerins goal seemed to have the south Limerick outfit the win but Doyle played a captain’s role with the equaliser.

Sunday’s game in Group 2 between Murroe-Boher and Knockainey also finished level (0-16 to 1-13).

Seanie Tobin was again Murroe-Boher’s star man. The game was level at 1-8 to 0-11 at the break and Knockainey looked to be heading for a win only for Murroe-Boher to get a late levelling point for the second weekend running.
