Watch: Greg O’Shea welcomed home by hundreds at Shannon Airport

Greg O’Shea touches down at Shannon Airport Wednesday, 07 August 2019: Love Island winner Greg O’Shea landed at Shannon Airport today and declared “it’s great to be home”. The Corbally, Limerick native, who ten days ago won the ITV reality TV show with Newcastle’s Amber Gill, arrived back to a rapturous welcome from family, friends and his huge legion of new found fans. And on touching down, O’Shea said that he was looking forward to getting back to Limerick to meet with family and friends. “I’ve landed here at Shannon many times but it was hard to believe today how much has happened since I left. I’m really delighted to be home. It really has been a whirlwind of a few weeks.” “Three weeks ago, I was just finished the Rugby Europe Olympic Qualifier in France, a few days later I walked onto Love Island met Amber Gill and ten days later again we walked away as winners.” Pictured is Greg O’Shea at arrivals in Shannon Airport.Pic Arthur Ellis.

LIMERICK’S Greg O’Shea was welcomed home by hundreds of fans at Shannon Airport on Wednesday following his big win on ITV’s Love Island.

“All these people, this is bizarre,” the Corbally man said on seeing the crowds who turned out to welcome him home, “It literally could have just been my dad outside the door and I would have been happy.”

O’Shea came out on top of the Love Island competition even though he was the last contestant to enter the villa, and with partner Amber Gill took home the £50,000 prize money.

The 24-year-old returned home without his Love-Island partner, Amber Gill, but says he “asked her about fifty times would she come home with me now, but she’s so busy, everyone in Britain wants a bit of Amber.”

After saying he would get Gill to visit Limerick soon, when asked what will be the “Greg O’Shea Limerick experience” he told the Limerick Post, “I don’t know, I’d have to bring her around to one of the pubs, a quiet ‘old man’ pub, definitely get her a pint of Guinness, bring her for a walk maybe up by Cratloe. Something cute, nothing too fancy.”
