A TOUR of the historic St Mary’s Cathedral is on the cards for National Heritage Week, which runs until this Sunday, August 25.

Standing at the entrance to the medieval city, the building was originally the royal palace of the Kings of Thomond and was gifted to the church in 1168.

If the walls could speak they would tell tales of wars, invasions, sieges, battles, famine and, at times, peace.

Tours are available between 2.30 and 3.30 each day. Call 061 310293 or email [email protected]
