Billy Leeโs senior footballers belied their Division Four league status with a deserved win over Division 2 Clare in the McGrath Cup in Mick Neville Park yesterday afternoon.
Limerick earned a 0-14 to 2-6 victory over their neighbours, with Jamie Leeโs six points going a long way to securing the win.
Another successful display against Waterford this coming Thursday will see Limerick into the McGrath Cup Final for the first time since 2017.
The scores were tied at 0-6 to 1-3 at the break with Lee chipping in with four points in the opening half hour. Keelan Sexton slotted Clareโs goal from the penalty spot.
Limerick hit top form in the opening stages of the second half with the first four points, but Sextonโs second goal of the game brought Clare to within a point.
Sexton and Aidan Davidson then put Clare in front, but two late Lee points and one each from Danny Neville and Iain Corbett saw Limerick home.
Following the victory, Limerick manager Billy Lee gave his thoughts on the two-point win and Thursdayโs game with Waterford.
