New Music: Susan Quirke – Winter’s Here

LIMERICK singer, songwriter and musician Susan Quirke, AKA Susie Q, has garnered much positive attention for her pure voice and fine songwriting. (RTE Radio 1 DJs Fiachna Ó Braonáin and Ray Darcy are fans as are Radio Nova and Galway Bay FM)
Released in late December, ‘Winter’s Here’ is a lovely melodic addition to her catalogue. You can hear her music on Spotify, YouTube and Bandcamp.
Susie Q has created an atmospheric video for the song which plays as a soothing calming collage for these blustery winter nights.
Susan is now based in Lahinch, working as a meditation teacher and has a very clear sense of the changing seasons as they happen along the West coast.
“I wrote this song as a reminder to myself to stay in tune with the cycles of nature. Winter is meant to be a time of hibernation, quiet, stillness and rest.
“There is also a huge rest deficit in our society which can lead to higher stress levels, something I see many people struggle with as part of my work as a meditation teacher. So this song and music video is an invitation to rest, and also a kind of meditation to help people drop back the gears and go easy on themselves until Spring comes forth.”
The track features violin playing by Colm Mac Con Iomaire, guitar from Colm Quearney, Justin Carroll on the keyboard, Graham Hopkins on drums, and Rob Malone on bass.
